WLOS Launches #togetherWNC Helping After Helene fundraiser to support flood victims in Western North Carolina

Press release from WLOS:

WLOS, the leading news source in Western North Carolina, proudly announces the launch of its fundraising campaign, #togetherWNC Helping After Helene, to support those affected by the recent devastating flooding caused by Hurricane Helene. The campaign kicks off on Thursday, with WLOS broadcasting live from Manna Food Bank throughout the day, starting at 5:00 AM.
In partnership with The Community Foundation of Western North Carolina (CFWNC), this campaign aims to channel much-needed resources directly to the communities most impacted by the flooding. CFWNC has activated its Emergency and Disaster Response Fund, focused on providing grants to frontline nonprofits assisting with both immediate relief and long-term recovery efforts. The Foundation has already distributed millions in support of relief operations, ensuring that every dollar raised goes directly to assisting those in need.
“Our region has always demonstrated resilience in the face of adversity,” said Courtney Youngblood, General Manager of WLOS. “By working together, we can provide real support to our neighbors as they recover and rebuild. We are calling on the entire Western North Carolina community to join us in this vital effort.”
CFWNC, established in 1978, has a long-standing commitment to supporting the 18 counties of Western North Carolina, including the Qualla Boundary. The Foundation manages over 1,300 philanthropic funds with total assets exceeding $435 million, making it a trusted partner in times of crisis. The Foundation’s relief fund is currently disbursing grants to organizations addressing critical needs, including shelter, food, and rebuilding efforts for affected families.
Throughout the day on Thursday, viewers can tune in to WLOS for live updates, hear stories from those impacted by the disaster, and learn how they can make a difference. Donations can be made through wlos.com/Donation Link. Every contribution, no matter the size, will play a role in helping our community recover.
