Adjunct Professor of Physics

The Warren Wilson College Department of Chemistry & Physics is seeking applicants to teach one or more sections of Physics during the 2019–2020 academic year. This is a part-time position outside of the college’s extended contract system.

Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in Physics or a closely related field. Ability to teach on campus in an active and engaging classroom and lab.

Fall 2019: Teach one or two sections of PHY 2510: Physics I, which includes a laboratory section. This calculus-based course covers topics including Newtonian physics, energy, thermodynamics, and statistical thermodynamics. Each section meets four days a week. The semester runs August 26 through December 14 (including Exam Week).
One section will meet M-Tu-W-F, 1:00 – 2:20
One section will meet M-Tu-W-Th, 2:30 – 4:00

Spring 2020: Teach one section of PHY 2520: Physics II, which includes a laboratory component. This calculus-based course covers topics including electricity and magnetism, electronics, optics, light, and special relativity. This course meets four days a week. The semester runs January 13 through May 2 (including Exam Week).
The section will meet M-Tu-W-Th, 1:00 – 2:20

Compensation: Each section will be compensated at $5,000.
