Spring cleaning isn’t just for clothes: Area restaurants are dusting off their menus for the season. At the Lobster Trap in downtown Asheville, winter vegetables and lobster bisque have made way for grilled salmon roasted on a Maine hickory plank with a shagbark-hickory syrup glaze, and a Sunburst Farms trout that shares a plate with sea beans.
Mornings were made for smoked mountain-trout cakes—or so the innkeepers at Hendersonville’s Inn on Church Street fervently hope. Their recipe is up against four other finalist a.m. treats drawn from submissions by bed-and-breakfasts across the country in Select Registry’s Inn-Credible Breakfast Cook-Off. The winner of the May 7 competition will be awarded a brand new oven.
