Birds do it: Fall in love, that is. And now you can get a sneak peek into their annual rites. On Sunday, June 22, Chimney Rock Park will host a Breeding Birds Guided Bird Walk, led by Park Ornithologist Simon Thompson.

Thompson will point out the family life of downy, hairy and pileated woodpeckers, all of which are currently nesting at the park, as well as the flashily colored scarlet tanager and demure wood thrush.

Cost for the hike is $19 or $3 for annual passholders and $8 for kids ages 6-15. Call the park at 800-277-9611 to register.

Rumble on: Asheville-based outdoors filmmakers Lunch Video Magazine (www.lvm.com) will host a premier of their first rock-centric flick, Rumbling Bald, at the Asheville Pizza and Brewing Company at 675 Merrimon Ave. beginning at 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 19.

Proceeds will go to benefit the Carolina Climbers Coalition (www.carolinaclimbers.org). Call Asheville Pizza and Brewing at 254-1281 for ticket information.

We’re rollin’: The Blue Ridge Bicycle Club (www.blueridgebicycleclub.org) will hold a guided ride to Hooker’s Gap on Saturday, June 21, departing from the MAHEC Family Health Center on W.T. Weaver Boulevard in Asheville at 9 a.m. The ride is open to nonmembers, too.

According to the club’s Web site, the rides “are structured so everyone can participate and no one gets left behind. No matter your pace, these rides can accommodate your riding style-so don’t make excuses, just join us!” If that sounds good to you, call ride leader Karen Lally at 298-5880.
