The weather is getting warmer, and we all know what that means: cookouts, fireworks and … baseball. Instead of watching baseball on television, why not become part of a team? The Asheville MSBL is a baseball league for men above the age of 25. The group’s mission is to offer a safe, fun and competitive environment for the baseball enthusiast in the Asheville region. As a nonprofit organization, the group hopes to grow their presence throughout our community and provide assistance to local youth baseball organizations. Asheville MSBL members consist of local business professionals, and talent levels range from old high-school players to ex-Major Leaguers.
Asheville MSBL president Brian Moseman says, “It’s not only an opportunity to have fun and to play some hardball, but it also provides the opportunity for professional and social networking among men in the community.”
The 2009 season is gearing up and will begin with a pre-season single-elimination tournament starting in mid-June. The 14-game regular season will begin in mid-July and will conclude with a double elimination post-season tournament. If you’re at least 25 years old and interested in getting back into the swing of things, contact Asheville MSBL to find out how to join a team. Info: info@ashevillemsbl.com or www.ashevillemsbl.com.
