What: If you think that all you need to see the constellations is a clear night sky, think again. Nothing quite compares to viewing the sky through a radio telescope and the Pisgah Astronomical Research Institute has a powerful one. The focus of this week’s observations will be Orion, Taurus and the lesser-known Lepus. The evening kicks off with a tour of the PARI campus and the planetarium’s equipment. Commemorate your evening with the stars with a photo in front of a high-tech telescope.
When: Friday, Jan. 13, 7 p.m. pari.edu or 862-5554
Where: Pisgah Astronomical Research Institute, 1 PARI Drive, Rosman
Price: $20 adults, $15 seniors/military, $10 children under 14. Reservations required.
