Mountain Xpress is offering a special opportunity to all interested Ashevilleans — a chance to be in a movie and meet our very own film critic, Ken Hanke. Interested? Show up tomorrow (Wednesday) morning at 9:30 a.m. at 2 Wall St. in downtown -— in front of the “big iron.”
We need lots of people for a spot, to be shot tomorrow morning by local filmmakers 6;14 Films, that will show before each movie in this year’s Asheville Film Festival. Refreshments will be served and a great time will be had by all. Entertaining attire encouraged. And no early morning crankiness allowed — unless your name happens to be Ken Hanke.

Thanks for reading through to the end…
We share your inclination to get the whole story. For the past 25 years, Xpress has been committed to in-depth, balanced reporting about the greater Asheville area. We want everyone to have access to our stories. That’s a big part of why we've never charged for the paper or put up a paywall.
We’re pretty sure that you know journalism faces big challenges these days. Advertising no longer pays the whole cost. Media outlets around the country are asking their readers to chip in. Xpress needs help, too. We hope you’ll consider signing up to be a member of Xpress. For as little as $5 a month — the cost of a craft beer or kombucha — you can help keep local journalism strong. It only takes a moment.
Do you honestly think this ploy will work? I know I wouldn’t get out of bed just to meet me.
Aww…I missed it! I would love to meet Cranky Hanke, as he seems to have almost the exact same taste in movies as me! I love reading your movie reviews Mr. Hanke… :)
Thank you, Danielle. I’m really not that hard to meet, especially during the film festival.
