Body found in French Broad River, Asheville Police investigating

The full release from the Asheville Police Department:

ASHEVILLE – On Tuesday, 06-05-12, at approx. 1:01 pm; Officers with the Asheville Police Department responded to the area of Amboy Rd., near Carrier Park in West Asheville, in reference to a report of body that had been located by passersby in the French Broad River.

With the assistance of Asheville Fire personnel, the body was recovered and transported to Mission Hospital at the direction of the local Medical Examiner and will be scheduled for autopsy later this week.

APD Detectives were able to make an identification of the subject based on a missing person’s report that had been filed on 06-04-12 by his spouse.  Subject in question is 39 year old, West Asheville resident, Anthony NMN Sawyer. 

Mr. Sawyer was last seen when he left their residence on Friday night, 06-01-12, at approx. 11:30 pm.
