The Buncombe County Board of Commissioners will hold its second monthly meeting tomorrow, April 17, beginning at 4:30 p.m. in the Buncombe County Courthouse. A public-comment session starts at 4 p.m.
The meeting is light on agenda items, but what’ s there is important, including the consideration of a resolution from the Buncombe County Planning Board that includes a series of zoning recommendations; a resolution to set a public hearing on the yet-to-be enacted county zoning ordinance; and a request from County Manager Wanda Greene for the county to lease a six-acre property in Swannanoa (just off Lake Eden Road) from the state for a 25-year period at a cost of $1 per year.
The Swannanoa site is one potential spot — the other is along Pond Road in Asheville — for a new animal shelter to replace the current facility on Lees Creek Road near Leicester.
