Zoning is on the front burner next Tuesday, April 24, when the Buncombe County Board of Commissioners holds a public hearing on proposed county zoning. The event will be held in Ferguson Auditorium at the Asheville campus of A-B Tech. Capacity is 400, with overflow seating available (they are expecting a crowd).
At the end of the hearing, commissioners will vote on the proposal. If it’s unanimous, the zoning is approved, if not, a second vote (but not a second hearing) will be held, probably on May 1. With Chairman Nathan Ramsey solidly opposed to zoning and Commissioners David Gantt, Carol Peterson and David Young solidly in favor, it appears certain that there will not be a unanimous vote.
The hearing starts at 5 p.m. and runs until commissioners decide to cut off debate.

Let me get this right… they send out (according to the AC-T) 115,000 notices and only book a 400-seat venue?
That’s just as good planning as trying to implement zoning in general.
LET US VOTE!
No zoning, no how, no way … It simply DOES NOT WORK. Look at Asheville.
