The Buncombe County Board of Commissioners will take up its revised strategic plan and a rezoning, along with introducing Gibbie Harris, the county’s new health director, during the board’s Feb. 17 meeting.
The county’s strategic plan, laying out eight broad goals like “Ensure Affordable Housing” and “Sustain Farming Livelihood,” was a topic of much discussion at the board’s January retreat, and commissioners will review their proposed revisions (including an emphasis on concentrating on core services in tight times) at the meeting.
The board will also discuss a request from Myron Gottfried to rezone three parcels along Indian Branch Road from residential to commercial. The county’s Planning Board has recommended the rezoning by a 6-2 vote.
The meeting begins at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 17, in room 204 of the Buncombe County Courthouse, with an open public-comment period at the end. A pre-meeting work session begins at 4 p.m.
