Swannanoa’s pitch for incorporation tops the Buncombe County Board of Commissioners agenda for Tuesday, Feb. 19, as incorporation advocate Mike Tolley will report to the board. The push to incorporate the area has drawn its share of controversy.
The commissioners will also consider an increase in the landfill tipping fee, the state of the county’s nursing homes and filling a vacancy on the Downtown Commission (candidates for the post include former commission chair and City Council candidate Dwight Butner, and developer Chuck Tessier).
The commissioners will also read an announcement celebrating of 100 years of county unity.
The commissioner’s meeting begins at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 5, in Room 204 of the Buncombe County Courthouse. A pre-meeting, including public comment, begins at 4 p.m.
