Chair Heather Rayburn, of the 5-Points Neighborhood Group, has announced a neighborhood clean-up will be held Saturday, April 7, 10 a.m. to noon. Participants will meet on Marcellus St., behind Greenlife Grocery, and work on the area around Topp’s Gas Station.
The 5-Points group comprises residents living in the vee between Broadway and Merrimon, north of I-240 up to UNCA. Members have been active in the Merrimon Corridor Study Group and in discussions with Chris Peterson who has just purchased the Deal Buick property for redevelopment.
Ben Gillum, one of the event organizers, said, “If you can’t join us, then I hope you will find some time in the coming weeks to pick up litter somewhere in the neighborhood.”
