Would-be voters looking to make a decision about which three of the Asheville City Council candidates to vote for have plenty of opportunities to find out more about the candidates. This week sees not only the start of early voting, but three forums — one already past and two approaching.
Tuesday night had the Asheville-Buncombe League of Women Voters forum, which I talk more about here.
Tonight, Oct. 20, the Asheville Alumnae chapter of the Delta Sigma Theta sorority is sponsoring a forum in support of the YWCA’s Stand Against Racism campaign at the YWCA on 185 S. French Broad Avenue. A reception begins at 6 p.m. followed by the forum at 6:30 p.m.
Also, on Saturday, Oct. 22, the West Asheville Community Watch is holding a forum at 1 p.m. at Vance Elementary on Sulphur Springs Road. A meet and greet will be followed by introductions and a question-and-answer time with the candidates.

The comments section is here to provide a platform for civil dialogue on the issues we face together as a local community. Xpress is committed to offering this platform for all voices, but when the tone of the discussion gets nasty or strays off topic, we believe many people choose not to participate. Xpress editors are determined to moderate comments to ensure a constructive interchange is maintained. All comments judged not to be in keeping with the spirit of civil discourse will be removed and repeat violators will be banned. See here for our terms of service.
