Into the Forums

On the local front, forum regulars had plenty to say about the recent raid on a homemade psychedelics lab in Jackson County, and about the problematic “elves” associated with DMT use. National topics have proven to be popular this week, such as this thread that asks So how is Obama doing so far, in your view? Commentary about the media’s obsessive ranking of every single action the president has taken since his inauguration less than two weeks ago soon followed. Other interesting topics in the Non-Local subforum this week include the European economic riots and the birthdays of two still-controversial men, Darwin and Lincoln.

Although the topic hasn’t taken off just yet, there’s a lot of potential in the discussion of Local crafts and the economic downturn.

Other hot topics include resources for free—and legal—music and audiobook downloads, the very promising Funny YouTube Video Postin’ Patch thread, and the seemingly immortal What song is stuck on your head today? and Six Word Story threads.

In the Community subforum, our forum crew has been telling us a little about what made them decide to become parents in the first place. In a more esoteric vein, forum regular GloLady asked this question, UFOs .. will you believe them when you see them?, which prompted an interesting discussion.

But this week’s crown jewel of forum discussions took place in the newly created Spirituality and Belief subforum, which saw Xpress commenting regular JBo (better known as local activist Jenny Bowen) ask for views on the theme of WNC as a ‘sacred space’ with an benevolent energy vortex. And differing views she got! This included a heated and entertaining series of exchanges with forum regular Jason Bugg, prompting resident artist brebro to once again turn forum drama into illustrated comedy.
