Joe Minicozzi was formally named Interim Executive Director of the Asheville Downtown Association tonight at a membership mixer at Pack’s Tavern. Minicozzi, 41, will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the organization. The ADA has been without an executive director for over two years.
Mincozzi has worked in architecture, urban planning, real estate development and finance, municipal government, and most recently with Public Interest Projects, an Asheville real estate and business development firm founded by the late philanthropist Julian Price.
The Asheville Downtown Association is a non-profit organization committed to the preservation and improvement of the central business district.
Thanks for reading through to the end…
We share your inclination to get the whole story. For the past 25 years, Xpress has been committed to in-depth, balanced reporting about the greater Asheville area. We want everyone to have access to our stories. That’s a big part of why we've never charged for the paper or put up a paywall.
We’re pretty sure that you know journalism faces big challenges these days. Advertising no longer pays the whole cost. Media outlets around the country are asking their readers to chip in. Xpress needs help, too. We hope you’ll consider signing up to be a member of Xpress. For as little as $5 a month — the cost of a craft beer or kombucha — you can help keep local journalism strong. It only takes a moment.
Finally – a serious role for this serious guy. Asheville needs to cultivate talented people like Joe, and put him to work for us.
Yep, congrats Joe!
Asheville is lucky to have Joe Minicozzi. My appreciation goes out to him for his dogged service to our city.
Way to go Joe–P&Z’s loss is downtown’s gain.
Best of Luck Joe – keep up the good deeds.
Wooo Hoo! A perfect fit.
Congrats little brother. Now treat them southern folk to a little northern city organization and revitalization hootnanny.
Joe Minicozzi works for the money interests in Asheville. They have invested blindly, and have been done in by their own kind, businesses whose greed and deceit caused this recession.
Now, they are abusing disabled, mostly elderly, mostly poverty-level.
Joe is their front man, on tv, in the papers, harassing City Council. He should be advising his client, Grove Arcade, to pay the $2,000,000 they owe the city! Why doesn’t he?
BECAUSE IT’S EASIER AND MORE FUN TO ABUSE DISABLED. No Go Joe.
This is creepy:
Joe leads the organization that is trying to twist the law to their own benefit while taking from the disabled, somehow has the acronym ADA, same as AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT.
How cheap.
