More than 22,000 cast early votes in Buncombe County before primary

According to Carolina Transparency — a vote-tracking initiative of the Raleigh-based Civitas Institute — 22,752 residents have already cast their primary votes.

Here are a few stats:

12,260: Asheville early voters
2,167: Weaverville early voters

826: Number of votes in precinct 18.2

5,400: Republican votes cast
11,690: Democrat votes cast
5,619: Unaffiliated votes cast

12,987: Early votes cast in Buncombe for Congressional District 10
9,763: Early votes cast in Buncombe for Congressional District 11

8,217: Votes cast for N.C. House District 114 (Buncombe District 1)
8,182: Votes cast for N.C. House District 115 (Buncombe District 2)
6,351: Votes cast for N.C. House District 116 (Buncombe District 3)

57: Average age of the early voter

21,478: White voters
517: African-American
260: Other
