The Buncombe County Board of commissioners will meet Tuesday, June 5, at 4:30 p.m., with public comment starting up at 4. On the agenda is a public hearing on next year’s budget, possible benefits of Adequate Public Facilities Ordinances, a report touting the benefits of an independent airport authority and an uninsured health-care initiative.
APFOs are laws which regulate development within a municipality by making development contingent on available infrastructure to support it.
The Asheville Regional Airport is currently administered by an authority which is a joint venture of city and county governments. The proposal to be discussed at the board meeting is for an independent authority that would take over and manage all facilities.
