Silver streaks

If you’re 55 or older, lace up your tennies: The 2008 Asheville-Buncombe Senior Games will be held this Thursday, May 8, through Tuesday, May 13.

The six-day event will include activities catering to almost every fitness level: track and field, croquet, horseshoes, golf, tennis, basketball, badminton, table tennis, billiards, cycling, bowling and swimming. Winners will get the chance to compete in the state games in Raleigh

The series will begin Thursday with opening ceremonies at Lake Tomahawk in Black Mountain and conclude next Tuesday with a Silver Arts showcase and awards ceremony at Lakeview Center, also in Black Mountain.

Registration is $8. For more information, call Dee Black at 350-2051.
