Loving Food Resources

Loving Food Resources is an all-volunteer, nonprofit food pantry located on the campus of Kenilworth Presbyterian Church in Asheville. LFR is dedicated to providing nutritional food and personal care items to neighbors in our community living with HIV/AIDS or in home Hospice care. Begun in 1991, LFR serves an average of 50 clients each Saturday, offering “client choice” shopping of personal care items, staples, fresh produce, frozen meats and a variety of canned goods.

Board of Directors president Barbara Bell says, “As the only food pantry for the population of HIV positive in our community, LFR serves a group of very needy individuals who are often not even on the radar screens of other assistance sources. We hope to grow into the public spotlight in order to provide more help for our clients.”

The next fundraiser for LFR will be this Saturday, July 21, at the Cathedral of All Souls in Biltmore Village. Stop by anytime between 5 and 8 p.m. for some “BBQ, Blues & Laughs.” The Hubris Blues/Jazz Band and the OxyMorons Improv Comedy Troupe will be on hand to entertain. Tickets are available for $10. There will be a kids meal option and a vegetarian alternative. Carry-out will also be available. Info: 255-9282. Or write to: PO Box 25142, Asheville, N.C. 28813-1142.
