Southern Off-Road Bicycle Association is a member-based, nonprofit, officially chartered mountain-biking organization. SORBA has grown to more than 1,800 members, with 19 chapters in Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.
The local Pisgah Area SORBA chapter is a volunteer organization dedicated to improving technical off-road biking recreational opportunities through advocacy for quality trail systems in Western North Carolina. PAS fosters relationships with community leaders, promotes volunteerism and outdoor recreation that is consistent with environmental protection, thereby strengthening our community and quality of life.
PAS board member Michael Dale elaborates, “We ride, build and maintain trails, and promote responsible trail riding. Most of all, we have fun! As mountain bikers, we have a responsibility in helping to maintain Pisgah’s extensive trail network. We regularly schedule work days, offer trail building workshops and work closely with land managers to create sustainable trails for all users to enjoy. A trail work day is full of fun and is a very rewarding experience. It’s not all work though. Join us for mountain-bike group rides in beautiful Pisgah National Forest. All skill levels and ages are welcome … [to participate in] a fun-filled day of riding and camaraderie.”
