Why do you like living in N.C.?

I am writing to you as a part of a literature and writing project on the travel diary A Walk Across America by Peter Jenkins. My classmates and I are contacting newspapers across the country in states we chose to learn more about. I wanted to learn more about North Carolina because it seems like an interesting state and it seems like a lot of people go there and visit. After doing some Internet research, I came across Asheville’s Mountain Xpress.

I would like your readers to write to me about why they like living in the state of North Carolina, major points of interest or history about North Carolina, and what kinds of things there are to do in the state. If they could also include the page of the Asheville Mountain Xpress where they saw my letter, I would greatly appreciate it. Your readers should use our school address but put the letter to my attention.

Thank you for your time and assistance with my class project. I look forward to hearing from your readers and learning more about the state of North Carolina.

Thanks for reading through to the end…

We share your inclination to get the whole story. For the past 25 years, Xpress has been committed to in-depth, balanced reporting about the greater Asheville area. We want everyone to have access to our stories. That’s a big part of why we've never charged for the paper or put up a paywall.

We’re pretty sure that you know journalism faces big challenges these days. Advertising no longer pays the whole cost. Media outlets around the country are asking their readers to chip in. Xpress needs help, too. We hope you’ll consider signing up to be a member of Xpress. For as little as $5 a month — the cost of a craft beer or kombucha — you can help keep local journalism strong. It only takes a moment.
