Xpress has been bringing you Halloween events from around the area. Here’s a list of what’s happening in the clubs over Halloween weekend. Know of other events? Add them in the comments section.
The festivities (in the form of pre-parties) kick off just two weeks from today. Eymarel also holds a pre-party, there’s the A Night of Stunning Sound after party on the Saturday of Moogfest, and the lineup additions of Shpongle, Younger Brother and two documentary films.
Dance parties, Dracula, weekend-long events and the annual return of the Unknown Hinson are among your Halloween options.
Just today, Moogfest organizers announced additions to the already jam-packed festival lineup — but this time, the newly-added acts include a handful of local electronic bands (like RBTS WIN, seen here).
Asheville’s Grammer School (recent winners of RiverFest’s Battle of the Bands, and selected for the next Lingua Musica at White Horse) share a bill with Waycross Georgia rockers The Woodgrains.
You probably know more Moogfest bands than you think you do. Here’s a who’s who/cheat sheet/hits list/six degrees of separation primer (part 1 … more to come).
Yes, it’s that time again. Make your weekend plans. You’re probably kicking things off with the last Downtown After Five of the season (Underhill Rose — the lovely ladies pictured here — along with Larry Keel & Natural Bridge, Lexington Ave., 5 p.m., free music, need I say more?) — here are some more options to fill in your entertainment calendar without draining your wallet.

So you didn’t get tickets to The Black Keys. They swing through Asheville fairly often, and this fall brings a surprising number of rock shows sure to leave your eardrums begging for mercy. Here’s a sampling, from indie and punk to Southern rock and experimental.
Last night indie-rockers The Enemy Lovers played a private party in the back room of the LAB, hosted by Music Allies.
The big free show this week is, of course, Bele Chere. So pick up your Xpress pocket guide or check out mountainx.com for extensive coverage. But, if you’re not heading to downtown Asheville’s biggest festival of the year, here’s what else is going on.
You though you were going to pace yourself for Bele Chere, but there are plenty of interesting music events between now and Friday (like r&b artist JaQuise, pictured here). Consider it a warmup.
Yes, Friday and Saturday, July 16 and 17, are packed. But here are three shows that just might make you want to clear your schedule.
