Listeners whose musical appetites are strictly limited to a diet of Americana may find Navigate the Madness too eclectic and adventurous; those with even a slightly open mind will likely embrace the album and hope for more along the same lines from Underhill in the future.
“I don’t just love bluegrass music,” she says. “I like some EDM, I like some pop. … I wanted to figure out how to marry that together and make something that’s authentically me, as well as an authentic experience for the listener.”
Recording sessions for the as-yet-untitled album will take the form of a pair of shows at The Altamont Theatre on Friday, Sept. 16.
