In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., an annual peace march departed from St. James African Methodist Episocopal church around noon. The procession met others honoring King at a rally in City-County Plaza, complete with music and speeches from community leaders.
To celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Asheville’s 2014 Peace March and Rally began today around noon, starting at the St. James AME Church, winding through downtown to Pack Square and concluding with music and speeches.
The Martin Luther King Jr. Association of Asheville & Buncombe County has announced several events in celebration Martin Luther King Day, Jan. 20, including a film screening, prayer breakfast and march.
