Plankeye Peggy and Battery Powered Hooker Boots musically battle July 20 at The Mothlight.
Here’s a selection of costumed capers, ghoulish gatherings and pumpkin-spiced parties. From autumnal festivities to puppet shows, there’s a celebration for nearly every reveler.
All four acts previewed in this edition have an Asheville connection. Three are based in town, and the other features a guitarist who lived here in recent years.
Sirius.B’s performance will follow two openers: fellow gypsy band Crystal Bright & the Silver Hands and pirate-rockers Plankeye Peggy.
“We’re into the pirate thing; we’re into the carnival and circus thing. But we’re not defining ourselves by those genres,” says songwriter and keyboardist Danny Tetrault. “There’s a kind of carnival scene in Asheville, and we love being part of that. But you can tell by our music: We’re a rock band.”
As we pin our shiniest hopes and dreams on 2016, it makes sense to see its predecessor out in style. Whether that entails peaceful chanting, serious rocking, communing with the undead or benefiting a worthy cause, Xpress has a party for every reveler.
Sirius.B, Megan Jean and the KFB and Plankeye Peggy will rock Gypsy souls at Isis Restaurant & Music Hall Friday, Dec. 18.
