PAVED PARADISE: The image shows the home W.O. Wolfe had built when he and his wife Cynthia moved to Asheville in 1880. Cynthia died four years later, and W.O. remarried Julia Westall Wolfe the following year. Together, the couple had eight children, including author Thomas Wolfe, who memorializes Cynthia in his novel, Look Homeward, Angel. The people in this photo are unknown.
