Blog Log: The week in local blogging

Now, we’ve talked blogiquette before, but it always bears mentioning. This time, Adventures of Sumpermom has the rules, though she seems to be breaking point 3, and a whole lot of mountainx.com readers regularly flaunt rule 13. Well, according to Ashvegas, a certain corporate newspaper company has had it with anonymous-ness.

And that’s not the only place newspapers show up this week. They also mess up head counts, according to Jane Q. Republican, and get threatened at coffee houses, as posted by Et In Arcadia Ego. Hey we’re just glad to be allowed to hang out.

After all, people are communicating in all kinds of ways. Of course there’s the blog, even if China is trying to take your domain name, as is happening to A Girl Who Wears Glasses.  And there are more and more blogs that tweet, like What the Hell?

But who needs 140 characters? Asheville has always been hot for bumper stickers like those at Liminal Screeds. Also graffiti, though Ashevillein knows when it sees a bad tag.

Sometimes what we don’t say can actually say a lot, as Blue Barnhouse demonstrated to a national publication.

Or we can just shout, though, as pointed out by Bird on the Moon; sometimes what comes out can be plain ugly.

Maybe Knitting in Asheville has found a better way: say it with flamingos!

Xpress needs help, too. We hope you’ll consider signing up to be a member of Xpress. For as little as $5 a month — the cost of a craft beer or kombucha — you can help keep local journalism strong. It only takes a moment.
