County puts $35 million social services building and parking deck project on hold
Buncombe County officials have halted plans to add 50,000 square feet of space to the county’s Department of Social Services building on Coxe Avenue. A 650-space parking deck planned in conjunction with that expansion has also been put on hold.
Commissioners will hold special meeting on I-26 connector
Buncombe County Commissioner K. Ray Bailey, who cast the deciding vote to delay an endorsement of a plan for the future I-26 connector at the board’s Tuesday night meeting, has now called for a special meeting to resolve the matter—and he’s got the support to do it. The meeting will be at noon next Tuesday, Dec. 23.

The former editor of the Asheville Citizen-Times on Wednesday filed a $15 million wrongful termination lawsuit against the newspaper’s publisher and its corporate owner, claiming that the publisher engaged in a pattern of harassing and bullying behavior.
