The article “Two Boys, Two Worlds” [Aug. 22] happens to be an excellent example of investigative reporting, true journalism. We are constantly hearing of the crimes brought to our neighborhoods by illegals. How they “wear” on the medical and financial systems of this country. How Americans are sick of being used by this so-called group. How they never pay taxes.
This report gives a deeper, more humane picture of what [illegal immigrants] see and feel. How this system only benefits those that take advantage of the few. How fear is instilled so deep that they are afraid to ask for their wages. How children are worked from sunup to sundown with little or no pay.
I don’t have the answer to this complex issue, but I do know that we, as human beings, have a responsibility to take care of others and make sure they have as many rights as any of us expect.
