New housing, business improvement: Both are important aspects of community life. So is building restoration and urban redevelopment.
Asheville is made great by the people who make up the community … . The magnolia tree has silently sat watch over generations of Asheville communities. It would be a shame to watch it go. It cannot be replaced with other trees in other areas of the city.
With so many buildings needing to be rented, restored and refurbished, it would be a great shame [for] the entire Asheville community to slaughter a historic tree or [eliminate] most any open space for new buildings. Support what is here. Strengthen from within; do not add more to a city with buildings some have even deemed as blight.
Care for the town as a whole, not just for the present person with an open checkbook and good connections, but for the entire community of Asheville—now and in the future.
