Community responds to water contamination

We would like to thank both the Buncombe County Board of Commissioners and the Asheville City Council for their unanimous votes to extend water lines to homes in the Oaks Subdivision off Pinners Cove Road, due to contamination of wells in our area.

The work to get this done at the local government level was unprecedented, thanks to David Hanks, Mandy Stone, Wanda Green, Jeff Richardson, Gary Jackson, many others, and staff who have already been in our community assisting. Skyland Fire Department has provided both mitigation for incidents at the suspected site of origin, and space for meetings for everyone to discuss the problems that we are experiencing.

To the taxpayers in Buncombe County and the city of Asheville, thanks for your help.

Special thanks to our neighbors James Wilson and Bob Morrison, who took the lead to see that we have clean water in our neighborhood.
