The holiday season is a special time of year, but for many Buncombe County residents the holidays can also accentuate the everyday challenges that local families face. You can help by serving a meal to homeless individuals and families, volunteering at a local mall’s “Giving Tree” in support of local agencies and their clients, or by delivering a holiday meal to homebound seniors. Or make a holiday donation: Turkeys and other food items are needed at area shelters and food banks, local animal-support organizations are in need of pet food and supplies, and several local organizations are collecting gifts for children’s holiday wish lists. These are just a few examples of ways you can give back.
