It’s spring. There are more hours of daylight. Dig those coins out of your couch cushions and the floor mats of your car and head out for great local music. From shoegaze to grindcore, from psychedelic to Latin pop, there’s something for everyone in this (perhaps) most eclectic of roundups. And, as usual, nothing costs more than $5.

• Bluegrass / Acoustic / Gospel Full Throttle Bluegrass plays a free, 6 p.m. set at the 4th Annual BBQ Cookoff & Bluegrass Jam (570 Brevard Road, Asheville).
• Power-pop band the artists of color perform at the final Roberson Showcase at TC Roberson High School (250 Overlook Road, Asheville, 654-1765). This is a benefit for the TC Roberson Music Club, also featuring Zapo Tech, Mirth Remedy, Roland and DJ Den. 6:30 p.m., $4.
• Death metal group Machines of Sin and Sorrow share a bill at the Boiler Room (11 Grove St., Asheville, 505-1612) with Convalescence, Kings of Prussia and Dead Side Down. 8 p.m., $5.
• Oak Orchard Swamp, the slow-core project of Asheville-based poet Jaye Bartel (pictured), will be at Broadway’s (107 N. Lexington Ave., Asheville, 285-0400) for a record-release show with Damian. 8 p.m., $5.
• World grove collective Cabo Verde returns to Zambra (85 Walnut St., Asheville, 232-1060) for a free show. 8 p.m.
• Rockers The Campaign 1984 play a free show at Ruby’s BBQ (8 Beverly Road, Asheville, 299-3511). 9 p.m.
• Knoxville-based backbeat/dub artist RandomBeat will be at Nashwa (64 Carter St., Asheville, 252-2001) at 11 p.m. $5.
Saturday, March 28
• The Leigh Glass Band kicks off Saturday with a happy hour Americana set at French Broad Brewery (101 Fairview Road, Asheville, 277-0222). 6 p.m., no cover.
• Shake Azalia hosts a hardcore house show “at Shake’s House” (32 Peircy St., Asheville) with Kings of Prussia, Fatal Disorder and As Sick As Us. Doors open at 6:30. $3.
• Indie-folkie Lucas also plays a house show at 22 Broad St., Asheville (“green house with colorful prayer flags and x-mas lights on the porch. come in the side door, off the alley on the left”). 8 p.m. Cost: A can of soup.
• At 10 p.m., psychedelic outfit Silver Machine kicks off its one-year anniversary show at the Garage at Biltmore (101 Fairview Road, Asheville, 505-2663). Guests include: mcE=MCsquared (A.K.A. George Pond of Snake Oil Medicine Show), Dark Candy Duo and visuals by Night Light Riders. $5.
• The Secret B-Sides gets funky at Hookah Joe’s (32 French Broad Ave., Asheville, 252-1522). 10 p.m. $5
• Quirky-pop trio Now You See Them takes the stage at the Rocket Club (401 Haywood Road, Asheville, 505-2494) with Boone-based bossa nova group Banana da Terra. The show is at 10 p.m. on the eve of NYST percussionist Jason Mencer’s birthday. Cover, according to the band, will be “cheap.”

• Jazz-fusion group The Chuck Lichtenberger Collective plays Barley’s (42 Biltmore Ave., Asheville, 255-0504) jazz series. 7:30 p.m., free.
• Grindcore artists Cardinal Deathmatch perform a free show at the Root Bar (1410 Tunnel Road, Asheville, 299-7297). 8 p.m.
• Winding up the weekend with a bit of a mystery, Cuban-by-way-of-Miami sultry Latin-pop singer Rafa Carballo lists a free 9 p.m. show in Asheville. Where? That’s the secret.
