We require a clean energy revolution, not more coal or nuclear power.
Exemplifying how the power industry’s propaganda retards progress required for human survival, the N.C. Division of Air Quality’s new permit would allow Duke Energy’s huge Cliffside plant to avoid maximum pollution controls.
We need to point out that Cliffside would emit mercury, arsenic, dioxins and many other hazardous air pollutants that especially endanger infants, children, the elderly. Mercury is already a serious problem in our state; every year in N.C., more than 13,000 children are born with blood mercury levels that place them at risk for mental retardation, learning disabilities, seizures, lowered IQ and more.
Consider joining the Cliffside Climate Action on April 20 at Duke Energy headquarters in Charlotte. Contact: info@canarycoalition.org or 631-3447.
