New art gallery opens Friday in Black Mountain

The news:

“Owned and curated by photographer Rebecca D’Angelo, Studio 103 will feature monthly shows by local and national artists. It will also offer local art and crafts for sale in its retail section.

The grand/art opening is Friday, March 26 from 5-8 p.m. and features one of Richmond, Va.‘s most original and captivating painters, Chris Milk. ‘His art is sweet and tells the story of sunny afternoons riding through historic Richmond, Va., neighborhoods on a bike, or curled with a lover,’ says Brooklyn-based culturefix.com. He is a self-taught artist whose work resembles a commingling of Klimt and Chagal.

Chris’ work will run through April 28.”

Milk also has a pretty awesome blog.

The gallery will feature some well-known local artists, along with out-of-town guests. This season will feature work from Tif McDonald from Asheville in April; Sabrina Cabada from Washington, D.C. in June; Fred Feldman from Black Mountain in July; Rebecca D’Angelo from Black Mountain in August; Moni Hill from Asheville in September; Becca Midwood from Austin, Tex. in October and Les Caison III from Asheboro in November.

And, this sounds intriguing: December 1-18 will feature the First Annual Funktional Holiday Bizarre!
