Srena-Maneesh comes to The Grey Eagle on Sunday, Oct. 10 as part of their U.S. tour. From Norway. The band (Emil and Hilma Nikolaisen, Øystein Sandsdalen, Tommy Akerholdt and Aadne Meisfjord) is super-photogenic and equally experimental. Their latest album, Abyss in B Minor rocks and growls, but it also lurches, churns, grinds and shudders. (Listen to spooky/scratchy/lush track “Melody for Jaana” below.)
According to press, “Serena-Maneesh will make their way back to our shores in late September for their second U.S. tour following the March 23rd release of S-M 2: Abyss In B Minor on 4AD. This next run of dates will have them here through the middle of October, co-headlining with Colorado’s Woven Hand.
“…August 12th will mark the U.S. release of a split 12” single with Toronto’s F**ked Up on the Norwegian and Canadian label Best Of Both Records. This will be a limited edition release, with only 1,000 copies being pressed. The Serena-Maneesh side is a 7 minute song called “Opium Priest” and the F**ked Up side is a song called “Here Lies Are” which F**ked Up previously made available as an MP3 on their blog.”
The show is at 8:30 p.m., tickets are $12.
