Want a taste of Swannanoa this Friday? How about eight … tastes?
The “Taste of Swannanoa” is back for a second year, featuring the food of Okie Dokie’s Smokehouse (which placed once again in the Xpress Best of WNC readers’ poll for barbecue this year).
Also, Michael Gentry of “Everyone Cooks,” a chef who teaches weekly culinary classes at Warren Wilson College, will offer kitchen tips and tricks, as will Susi Séguret, director of the Seasonal School of Culinary Arts in Swannanoa.
Food and drink offerings will abound, from Pisgah Brewing beers and beverages from 6 Pack Smoke Stack, to the Latin fare of Puebla Restaurant and La Bamba Burrito Express. The Doghouse and Dairy Bar, Chowtime Pizza, Eye Scream Parlour, Auntie M’s Pies, Fresh As Can Bee Catering and the Hot Dog King will all offer the best eats east of Asheville.
Swannanoa’s Steve Moseley (of Sons of Ralph) will entertain the crowd with acoustic sounds and a raffle will offer products from businesses like Appalachian Creek Nursery and Landscape, Auntie M’s Pies and more. For a full list, visit the event website.
Proceeds from the event go to a selected Swannanoa charity. Attendees are also asked to bring a warm coat, child’s backpack or personal hygiene product for the Swannanoa Emergency Assistance Program.
The Swannanoa Business Association sponsors the Taste of Swannanoa, which will be held at Warren Wilson College’s Bryson Gym at the north entrance on Warren Wilson Road on Friday Jan. 27 at 7 p.m. Valet parking is provided by the Swannanoa Volunteer Fire Department. Tips are encouraged.
Tickets are available at Dog House Dairy Bar, Chow Time Pizza, Hot Dog King, Okie Dokies Smokehouse, Valley Truck Service, Can Do Signs, and Buckeye Kennels, all in Swannanoa. Tickets to the Taste of Swannanoa are $16, $11 for anyone over 60 and an additional $4 purchased at the door. For more information, contact Swannanoa BA@gmail.com or call 581-9222.
Oh yes, a MUST for your January fun list.
