“Flamethrower guitarist and complete bluesman” Michael “Iron Man” Burks performs at Pisgah Brewing on Thursday, March 1. According to his bio, Burks “quite literally entered the world with blues in his blood. Joe Burks, Michael’s grandfather, played acoustic Delta blues guitar in his hometown of Camden, Arkansas. …Michael’s father, Frederick, was a bass player [who] spent his evenings performing in the city’s smoky, dimly-lit blues clubs, often backing harmonica legend Sonny Boy Williamson II, as well as other touring blues stars and local front men.”
But, family aside, Burks is known for his fiery intensity and searing guitar work. He’s toured Europe, Australia and South America as well as logging thousands of miles across the U.S.
Tickets are $12 in advance or $15 day of show. Xpress will give away tickets to the show on Wednesday in the noon hour via Facebook, so like us to win.
