Remember electronic/world-beat band Telepath (they fused ragas and dance beats and seemed ahead of their time, circa 2006)? Okay, so remember Telepath’s bassist, Curt Heiny? (He was the one with the hair — you couldn’t miss him.) Well, Heiny went on to form Archnemesis, an elctro-soul project with Justin Aubuchon (of Charleston’s breakbeat outfit MO Theory). According to the band’s bio, “Archnemesis creates its distinctive sound by combining original music with samples ranging from early 20’s blues and jazz to modern hip-hop and soul.” You can download new EP Diamonds and Glass for free, here.
Archnemesis plays the Asheville Music Hall on Thursday, March 29 with local trip-hop act Paper Tiger (who recently shared the Orange Peel stage with Bonobo.) Paper Tiger promises to perform two new songs at the show.
Doors at 9 p.m., music at 10 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 day of show. Xpress will give away a pair of tickets on Facebook in the noon hour on Wednesday. Follow to win.
