“I basically take a space and turn it into a magical boutique for a day,” writes Elle Palmer, the mastermind behind the Urban Gypsy Traveling Trunk Show. Already popular in Charlotte where Palmer is based, the shows combine the best aspects of vintage stores and clothing swaps, offering up an array of hand-picked and edited apparel at bargain prices. All pieces run $6-$60.
“Fill up those gaps in your wardrobe with vintage & designer clothing, handmade jewelry, coats, shoes, hats, and other accessories,” says the Urban Gypsy website. Grab a pal and get ready to shop guilt-free (it’s all upcycled, recycled, vintage and second-hand). The Urban Gypsy Trunk Show arrives in Asheville on Saturday, March 31. Hours are 1-7 p.m. at the Movement & Learning Center located upstairs from the French Broad Food Co-op (90 Biltmore Ave.).
