Really, it’s just fun to say. Slavic Soul Party!. According to a press release, what it entails is “fiery Balkan brass, throbbing funk grooves, Romani accordion wizardry and virtuoso jazz chops.” Oh, and nine musicians — a lineup that should neatly fill the stage at The LAB on Tuesday, April 24.
There’s this, too: “This will be the band’s first club gig in Asheville since thrilling audiences at the Lake Eden Arts Festival in 2010. SSP! is on a record release tour down the east coast, culminating in performances at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and the Festival Internationale in Louisiana.” The album in question, by the way, is NY Underground Tapes.
Watch the band perform at Club Helsinki in Hudson, N.Y. last year:
Their Lab show (two sets!) gets started around 8:30 p.m. Cover is $8.
