Ashvegas.com (founded and run by former Asheville Citizen-Times and Mountain Xpress staffer Jason Sandford) reports that four long-time Asheville Citizen-Times newsroom employees have decided not to apply for recently redefined newsroom positions. The positions are part of the “newsroom of the future” described by Executive Editor Josh Awtry in a letter to readers published last week.
Ashvegas.com reported the four employees who decided not to reapply are award-winning writer Barbara Blake, photo editor Bill Sanders, Bobby Bradley and Holly MacKenzie.
Ashvegas also reports that at least one email circulating among Asheville business leaders details the changes at the newspaper and includes a note of worry about the changes. It urges people to contact Awtry and Publisher Dave Neill to express any concerns.
