Early May weather in Western North Carolina is unpredictable, but the forecast is lookin’ mighty nice for this weekend. With highs predicted in the upper ‘70s, the river running high and a lineup designed to get you moving, it’s going to be a big fun time down in Hot Springs this weekend.
French Broad River Festival headliners include Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real, The Gourds, Balsam Range and Sol Driven Train. And there’s a bevy of local and regional favorites slated, from the surf-rockin Krektones to hip-hop inspired Eyes of the Elders. One of the biggest surprises on the bill is the Legendary Singing Stars, who blew the crowd away at their Grey Eagle show last year. Do not miss that performance … it’ll inspire you to more than just dancing.
A peek at their Grey Eagle show:
There’s also the regulars who’ve made the festival into such a fun, community-oriented affair, Phil Cheney’s dynamic art gallery and lots more. It’s hard to describe this little village on the river, but it’s a special place.
If the music weren’t enough, there’s other action: a raft race, a bike race, a huge hula hooping event and a slew of stuff for the kids.
There are still tickets left, but you better get ‘em fast. The fun starts tomorrow!

Too bad they don’t sell Friday only tickets. I need a Gourds fix.
