Leave your sparkly dresses and tuxedos in the closet and pull out some dungarees on Saturday, June 2nd for MANNA FoodBank‘s 13th annual Blue Jean Ball. This joyful event is a relaxed affair; no stiff collars required. Billed as a “mini-festival” on the lawn of MANNA FoodBank’s riverside location, the Blue Jean Ball will feature music from Byron Hedgepeth and Mike Holstein, along with Stranded Sally, Motownblue and Free Flow. Expect everything from jazz to soul and funk to rock, as well as Bhangra and hip hop dance from Christine Garvin and Diana McCall.
MANNA FoodBank would never let its guests go hungry. 25 chefs from restaurants like Corner Kitchen, Rosetta’s Kitchen, Luella’s, The Biltmore, Posana, Morning Glory Café, Neo Cantin and many more will serve up local food. A silent auction tent will offer up a rock climbing adventure, a weekend at a chalet near Mount Mitchell and a hot air balloon ride.
Organizers say that this is MANNA FoodBank’s most important fundraiser of the year, both a chance to raise money and to honor the hard work of MANNA’s volunteers. “The event is a tapestry of sponsors, volunteers, board members, musicians, even other local non-profits, donating time or services to create this one magical night each year,” says executive director Cindy Threlkeld.
The party begins at 7 p.m. and runs until 11 p.m. on Saturday, June 2. Tickets are $70 per person and tables of 10 can be reserved for $750. It will be held at MANNA FoodBank, 627 Swannanoa River Road. Info and tickets: www.mannafoodbank.org.
