“McHenry, MacQueen spar at forum”

Incumbent Republican U.S. Rep. Patrick McHenry and Democrat challenger Tate MacQueen fielded questions ranging from immigration to gun rights during a candidate forum Tuesday afternoon in Rutherfordton.
The forum was sponsored by the Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce.
McHenry came out swinging against the policies of President Barack Obama whereas MacQueen said he was on the ballot, not Obama.
The first question asked was about immigration reform. MacQueen said the issue was that there is no bipartisan efforts in Washington. He said he disagreed with Obama regarding fair trade and creating stability.
“We need to treat people with dignity and respect,” MacQueen said. “We cannot vilify children.” …
