From a press release:
Park Ridge Health awarded “A” in Fall 2014 hospital safety score
Park Ridge Health was honored with an “A” grade in the Fall 2014 Hospital Safety Score, which rates how well hospitals protect patients from errors, injuries and infections. The Hospital Safety Score is compiled under the guidance of the nation’s leading experts on patient safety and is administered by The Leapfrog Group, an independent industry watchdog. Park Ridge Health is among 31 percent of hospitals across the United States that earned an A grade.
“Park Ridge Health is delighted to be recognized as a quality leader in our region and to be considered a top choice for those seeking a safe and exceptional health care experience,” said Craig Lindsey, Vice President of Clinical Services and Chief Nursing Officer at Park Ridge Health.
The first and only hospital safety rating to be peer-reviewed in the Journal of Patient Safety, the Hospital Safety Score is free to the public and designed to give consumers information they can use to protect themselves and their families when facing a hospital stay.
“This recognition, as well as other awards Park Ridge Health has received in 2014 for patient safety, patient engagement and patient experience, reflect our unwavering commitment to excellence and goal of being the top health care provider for our community,” said Jimm Bunch, President and Chief Executive Officer of Park Ridge Health.
The Hospital Safety Score uses 28 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to produce a single A, B, C, D, or F score representing a hospital’s overall capacity to keep patients safe from preventable harm. More than 2,500 U.S. general hospitals were assigned scores in fall 2014.The Hospital Safety Score is fully transparent, and an analysis of the data and methodology used in determining grades is available online.
