In a unanimous, unpublished decision, the N.C. Appeals Court has upheld the fairness of the trial of Edwardo Wong, convicted in the 2008 shooting death of N.C. State Trooper Shawn Blanton.
Wong’s claims of jury bias in his 2010 Catawba County trial were denied by the court and they affirmed his conviction and sentence of life without parole on the top charge of first-degree murder. Blanton had stopped Wong just west of Asheville on I-40 in a routine traffic stop.
The court’s entire 22-page decision can be read here.
