Aiming to cultivate entrepreneurial energy, Venture Asheville has started a new event series dubbed “Pitch for Pitchers.”
An entrepreneurship initiative of the Economic Development Coalition for Asheville-Buncombe County and the Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce, Venture Asheville recently got a shout-out in a Popular Mechanics story that ranked Asheville the second best start-up city in America.
Here’s the event details via the Venture Asheville website:
Have an idea you’ve been itching to bounce off your fellow entrepreneurs? Asheville’s newest startup event, Pitch for Pitchers, kicks off on Wednesday, January 14, from 5:30 p.m. at Hi-Wire Brewing (197 Hilliard Avenue). As many as 10 entrepreneurs will make 1-minute pitches, followed by 2 minutes of Q&A, all on the clock. Attendees then vote for their favorites. First prize wins $50 and a free pitcher of beer! Runners-up also win a free pitcher of beer.
Pitches must be able to address three basic questions: 1) What’s the problem? 2) How does your product/service solve it? 3) Who is the customer? Come to meet new people, enjoy good beer and share great ideas with your peers. No pitch required to attend the event! Connect with the event on Facebook.
Interested in pitching your idea at Pitch for Pitchers? Email Josh Dorfman (josh@ventureasheville.com) with your answers to the 3 questions above.
