BlueRidgeNow: County wooing foreign firm to Mills River

Mills River may soon be home to a new foreign manufacturing operation — one the city hopes will create some 172 full-time jobs and $27.1 million in local investment, according to an article by Nathaniel Axtell of BlueRidgeNow.com.

The public, however, isn’t privy to which firm the city is courting due to requests of anonymity from company management. Efforts to incentivize the firm’s relocation to Mills River are falling under the name “Project Granite,” reportedly an ode to the state rock of North Carolina. Henderson County Partnership for Economic Development CEO Andrew Tate told Axtell this nickname is “not related at all” to the firm’s industry or name.
